AIMIXDESIGN is aligned with a performance-modified volumetric approach: preliminary proportions are engineered before laboratory testing, then adjusted until the selected performance criteria are satisfied.

The software identifies a rational binder-content window rather than treating one calculated value as the final optimum.

Performance Modification

Binder content, aggregate structure, RAP, binder grade and additives can be modified according to test results.

Specification Limits

Minimum binder-content requirements and applicable volumetric boundaries provide the first design constraint.

Richness Modulus

Binder demand is estimated from aggregate specific surface, gradation continuity, filler content, nominal size and packing behaviour.

Analytical BMD

Gmm, Gsb, target air voids, VMA and VFA conditions are used to identify a preliminary volumetrically acceptable binder content.

The result is a technically consistent range to be tested, modified and validated through laboratory performance testing.

Binder demand adapted to the actual aggregate structure.

Traditional fixed richness-modulus approaches may not fully represent modern aggregate structures. AIMIXDESIGN adjusts the estimation according to the combined gradation and aggregate-surface characteristics.

Wheel Tracking, Hamburg, APA or equivalent tests verify resistance to permanent deformation.

IDEAL-CT, CT Index or equivalent criteria verify cracking tolerance and mixture flexibility.

Moisture-damage results guide the possible use of hydrated lime, liquid anti-stripping additives or mixture redesign.

Binder & PG Engineering

Binder grade and mixture performance interact.

Pavement design defines the target performance level, but mix design verifies whether the selected combination of binder, RAP, aggregate structure and dosage can realistically achieve it.

AIMIXDESIGN supports comparison of alternative PG grades and binder systems when performance testing indicates excessive rutting, insufficient cracking tolerance or incompatibility with high RAP levels.
